YAR MOHAMMAD ATAYI / Manager
I am an Ishkashimi man from the small mountain village of Yakhdaro village deep in Badakhshan Province. I was born in 1986 and have experienced the increase of tourism in my region, mainly attracted by the traditional culture and wild nature.
I studied Biology in Mazar e Sharif but decided to become a tourism professional in 2004, specialising in Wakhan Corridor, Little and Big Pamir areas where I have been pioneer guide. In 2021 I opened the company Last Tribes Afghanistan after having explored all my country. I work with my wife Shogofa and a qualified team of expert guides who will show the traveller the most interesting places of Afghanistan.
At Last Tribes Afghanistan we focus in living culture and we support projects of cultural revival among tribal minorities such as the Iskashimi, Wakhi, Kyrgyz, Turkmen, Jogi, Baloch, Aimaq, Pashai, Nuristani, and Kochis.
SHOGOFA SAHAR / Product and Office Manager
Nurse as a professional but in charge since 2021 of designing the itineraries of Last Tribes Afghanistan. I receive the guests when they reach Ishkashim, where our tourism project started. Our town is the gateway to the Wakhan Corridor and the Pamir. I love organising the trips and taking care of hotel, domestic flights, and vehicle bookings. I accompany Atayi during the prospective trips to open new areas of Afghanistan to travellers from all around the World.
IBRAHIM MAHRAD / Marketing Manager
I was born in Badakhshan Province and since 2019 I have been collaborating with my friend Atayi as part of the Last Tribes Afghanistan team. I am an English language teacher by profession but now I am fully involved in the promotion of our travel company and I accompany travellers from different nationalities around Afghanistan. In my personal life, I am passionate about promoting Afghanistan's cultural richness and ensuring that its stories are told. I enjoy engaging with people from all walks of life, learning from their experiences, and sharing the beauty of my homeland.
MOHAMMAD SADIQ NOOR / Guide
Born in1990 in Samangan, a northern province of Afghanistan, I graduated in BBA (bachelor in business and administration) in Kabul. During my managing job in several national and international NGO organisations I realised that Afghanistan was an incredibly diverse country and I developed a passion for cultural diversity. Having met Atari in the Pamir opened an opportunity for me to become a guide.
Since 2021 I work at Last Tribes Afghanistan and I am in charge of receive our travellers at Kabul International Airport and guiding them around the capital and the rest of the country.
NABI MAHIR / Guide
I am an experienced cultural guide. After having accompanied travellers from all around the world to the small villages of the remote provinces of Afghanistan I joined my friend Atayi in his unique project Last Tribes Afghanistan. It is the only travel agency focused in ethnic minorities. As an Ishkashimi tribal man myself I am deeply honoured to accompany international travellers to my community and other secluded tribal areas where the old ways still remain intact. The essence of Afghanistan is found in these remote tribal communities where not many tourists have been to.
